As Seen On Tv H2O Steam Mop Review

The H2O Mop is advertised to be the ultimate floor cleaning solution on as seen on tv infomercials. It is one of the Shark Steam mop main competitors. I was a little skeptical but I decided to give it a try to see if all of the hype was true. Once I obtained the H2O Mop I couldn’t wait to clean my dirty wood floors in my house; I had been letting the floors get dirty for the last two weeks (for the purpose of my experiment, not from laziness of course!).

Putting the H2o Mop together was a piece of cake, all that is needed is the assembly using two screws. The package comes with two reusable, washable cloths that fit into the bottom of the H2O Steam Mop. This was a huge relief as I was sick and tired of buying expensive refills for my old mopping unit that generally only last about two or three rooms. The package also came provided with a carpet glider.

I was ready to get started and full of anticipation for spotless, gleaming floors. I filled the water tank with ordinary tap water. The H2O Mop converts this water into 1,500 Watts of steaming power, pretty impressive. After the tank is filled with water you plug the mop into a socked and wait for ten to fifteen seconds for the main light on the unit to turn green, which means you are good to go.

I immediately pointed the H2o Steam Mop to the direction of the front door area of my floor, the heaviest hit of the dirty house and got stuck in to the job at hand. The stains and dirt were gone in minutes; “this product really works!” I exclaimed. I then pulled out a soda from my fridge to continue with my experiment and emptied the contents on my tile kitchen floor. The H2O Mop quickly and easily took care of all the sticky wet mess and left my tile floors looking immaculate, something that hadn’t happened in a very long time!

The head of the Steam Mops has a pretty cool swivel head on it which allows the mop to move around the corners and baseboards with ease and can also get into hard to reach areas. I did find that with fresh spills, the H2O Mop has a little more of a tough time than with dried out spills but if you have your second head pad handy no job should be too tough for this amazing product.

If you decide that the steam mops are not for you we did a review on both the Bona Mop and the Swivel Sweeper G2. Steam mops are not for everyone, that's why we decided to branch out a little bit and cover other cleaning products.

I used my H20 steam mop (1)one time.and the ball that swivels broke, leaving the handle separated from the triangular base. Poor design in my opinion. It broke too easily.

Don't buy the h2o steam mop! Waste of money...product SUCKS! It leaves dirty streaks on my laminate floor, which creates more work in the long run. Save your money!

use before I was half done with foor) and now
on 4th try it does nothing. Lights both
come on but there is NO steam. Tried vinegar
in water, sewing needle and WD-40. Nothing
helped. Cheap piece of junk. Not worth even
1/4 of what I paid for it and right now

At first I bought the Shark steamer and really loved it. Had it for about two years and it worked great. We just had ceramic tile put in throughout our home. The first time I went to use the Shark, the handle broke in half. I even tried to super glue it together, but of course that didn't work. That same day, I happened to see the H20 mop being advertised and decided to try it. It was easy to put together and it worked for about 1 hour and then quit putting out steam. I had plenty of water in it, it just quit working. Needless to say, I'm not very happy as the machine cost nearly $150.00 with taxes and shipping charges. I will try it one more time before I send it back and then I will be buying another Shark. This time I think I'll try the Steam Pocket Mop.

It worked the first day fine, then after that the machine started to over heat within 5 min of being plugged in. then it would only give me a few min of use before it needs to cool down. Very annoying for carpet because of the slow motion required for deep cleaning.

Anonymous said...

I FIND THE CLOTH WILL NOT STOP ON MACHINE,CAN ANYONE GIVE ANY TIPS HOW TO KEEP IT IN PLACE.
THANKS

The H20 Mop is heavy & leaves excessive water in the crevaces of my ceramic tile floors and streaks on my laminate floors. After I'm done mopping, I have to use a towel to mop up the excessive water. I then bought the Shark Steam Pocket Mop. Now this is a wonderful steamer, y'all!!!

I bought a shark steam mop and loved it! I had it for about six months, it worked great. Then my son tryed to use it. Well, when he pushed down on the mop, the handle broke. I was really was upset. So i thought ok I'll buy another one. So I did. Well we had the mop about a month and a half, it worked great until my daughter had used it and it quit steaming all together. I love the idea of moping with steam, but I'm tired of spending lots of money on something that is just going to break.

From day one it left excess water on the floor have to put a fan on the floor to dry....would never ever use this on my wood floors....it is true that it leaves water in the cracks of the ceramic tile....nothing like what they advertise on tv.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR SHARING YOUR TRUE THOUGHTS. I won't be buying this product....!

We have used the H2O mop and it does an ok job. But it doesn't get into tight corners, it is not balanced very well, and as others ahve mentioned the plastic is cheap.

We ended up switching to a "Volti Vaporetto 900", managed to get it on sale for almost the same price as an H2O mop ($150 CDN, this is unheard of!). Made in Italy, it is meant to replace all cleaning chemicals. You can clean your floors, mirrors, counters, stove, walls, windows, toilet etc. with this thing. There are all kinds of available attachments for your household needs. It heats the water to 120 degrees celsius to kill bacteria and dust mites. (you can use it on your bed and furniture as well)

I figure if I put out that kind of money it would be great if it cleaned everything and it does! Bye bye chemicals, and bye bye cheapo H2O mop!

I have been very happy with my H20 steam cleaner - but admit I had to have it replaced 2 times within the first 30 days. They finally sent me one that works, and it's been working terrifically for over a year. I have used it for spot cleaning the carpet - works terrifically! I'm tempted to get a Shark Pocket Steamer because of the flipping swivel head, but am concerned that no one has had any success with cleaning the carpet. (I also don't like the way the cloth fits on the H20 cleaner.)

I bought the h20 steam mop. It worked ok the first 2 times but it was awkward and hard to manuever on my tile floor. My daughter used it for the 3rd time and it sort of konked out. the green light didnt come on. The floor was excessively wet and she was literally out of breath. I feel it was a piece of junk and not worth the money. I'm going to try Haan steam mop, it has good reviews.

My mop worked fine. No complaints. I used it a few times but today the swivel ball socket broke. One of the two pins which holds the handle in the triangle head broke. It cannot be repaired. Broke too easy for a product that cost over a hundred dollars...including S&H.

Anonymous said...

My H20 Mop works just fine. The floor isn't immediately dry like the informercial ... but it's an infomercial. lol. The floors dry pretty quickly and I never have to use chemicals which I like. It cleans pretty well. With tough dirt and grime, you have to let it sit on the spot for a minute, then it comes out quite easily.

H20 Mop worked some what well (But left alot of water on floor surface) after about 10 uses the plastic ball joint joining the mop head to the handle broke. I am currently looking for a replacement ball joint so that I do not have to throw away my $100 mop because of a $0.50 plastic piece

I have had my H2O mop for over 4 years... and it works perfectly. I purchased some new mops pads at an "as seen on tv store" for much cheaper than re-ordering from thane, as mine were fainlly starting to fall apart after doing an unfinished basement floor. My previous tenants spilled paint in my bathtub, and I could not get it off with anything I tried. Then I jus decided to put the mop in the tub, leave it on a spot for a minute, and the steam was so strong that is lifted the paint off my tub! it saved me from having to buy paint thinner and numerous other products to remove that paint. My floors (laminate) always dry within 5 minutes, and I add essential oils to the water and make my house smell amazin, like a spa! I am sad to read about all the problems people have had, as mine has been amazing!

We have had our H20 Mop for about a year now. The handle has cracked and is almost unusable. I have duct tape holding it together. It also doesn't get as hot as it used to, and frequently leaves puddles of water on the floor (despite showing a green light for ready).

Anonymous said...

I have used mine about 6 times, then suddenly no steam, followed ALL instructions, it finally and suddenly started to rattle really loudly, then steam came out, so thought it was fine. I put the pad back on, went to use, it stopped working same thing all over again. It is now plugged in, no noise, then suddenly loud rattles, vibrating, shaking, buzzing, and no steam. Maybe eventually it will shoot steam then stop again. I'm pissed. I am a struggling single mom who saved up for this piece of crap and everything I read said it would cost more money to ship and fix. Someone above posted above this warranty crap...which is not a warranty and not worth it. Maybe these people will get it, what a rip off.

Anonymous said...

Steam started coming out of the body of the unit. The plastic is completely warped now. I've emailed Thane with no response. 2 other people in my family have them and love them though.

My H20 mop just quit. I'm left with all these useless accessories that I paid for. I find this really upsetting.

couldnt wait for my h2o steam mop to arrive how dissapointing it leaks water does not clean like it said on tv, ordered it thinking it was going to make moving house easy, save your money dont bother elbow grease is cheaper and more effective, best cleaning thing it is good for is to put in bin and declutter your home

Reasons why the H2O Steam Mop Sucks:
- leaves my floors soaking wet. I have to walk around with a towel to soak up the excess left over water.
- doesn't get rid of hard dirt and grime.
- leaves streaks on my panel flooring.
- heavy, clunky and doesn't 'glide' like it seems to in the commercials.
- the microfiber pad slips off all the time, and the black drawstring cord design is poor, since it doesn't stay sinched up tightly enough and I have to keep tucking the loose end into the pad.
- the cord gets in the way since there's nothing to wind it around. I have to constantly pick up the cord to get it out of the way, and coil it around my own arm as I'm mopping.

BOO H2O STEAM MOP

i'VE HAD MY H2O steam mop for over 2 years, It worked perfectly, but now it leave too much water, I don't know why, I wish someone could send me a hint on how to fix the problem.

Anonymous said...

I've used mine a few times...never worked that great and the design sucks. Comes with only 2 mopping cloths which also sucks. I had the Shark steam mop and it just stopped working so I bought this one. Now I have the same problem with this one...it just stopped working!

When I purchased this product by phone, I was told that Thane was also throwing in a free vacuum cleaner with the mop. I was expecting a small, hand held vacuum. When it arrived it was a big, bulky vacuum that is heavy and clumsy to use. I think this bulky freeby was a gimmick to add to the shipping and handling cost. The s/h cost is so high ($60) that the customer will probably decide to keep it rather than forfeit that much money. My advise, therefore, if you are interested in this product, buy from a local retailer if possible. You can than return it without paying the high s/h cost.

I bought an h20 mop about a year ago. I used it once and loved it. I just tried it again and I'm so dissapointed, there's no steam and it spit out yellow boiling water from the back and burned my leg!! I'm very upset to know that the people selling this product know about all of these problems and refuse to do anything about them. If my leg blisters, they'll be hearing from me!!

I bought the H2O mop less than a year ago
I tried using it today and the lights wont even turn on. Don't WASTE YOUR MONEY
DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!

I have the best steam mop on the market - the Haan slim & light floor steamer - it is the best! It can't compare to the Shark which is what I first had and returned. I have an attachment for carpets & steaming mattresses. I ordered it on Amazon - my house is hardwood & ceramic tile & this makes cleaning my floors so easy!!

I have has my h20 steam mop for 2 years. I lov ed it. Gave $99.99 for it. Bought for pads for it. It no longer puts out steam. Now I have new pads for something that doesn't work. I used my mop once a week. I would have thought it would of lasted longer then that. I have vacumm sweepers that I have had for over 30 years. I won't buy another of these mops.

Thanks for your reviews, I was going to purchase one but I will refrain now. Sites like these really help consumers.

Saw the H20 steam mop for the first time today on TV so glad I have read the reviews. I am not prepared to waste £100 on aomething that the reviews won't last. thank you all.

I just bought a H2O from the GoodWill store it looks brand new but had only one pad. I'll let you know if it works for me. I checked out the cost of getting additional pads on Amazon which is very cheap but after reading all these negative comments, I'm almost scared to start the thing up. I've had three sharks. Two of the handles broke and one just stopped steaming for no reason. I loved it when it did work but it was not that easy to glide over my ceramic tile floors. I have a cheaper model from Home Depot and it works pretty good. The H2O I just bought may be one of your damaged models one of you gave away as a tax loss. Well I only paid 6.96 for it so if it works I have a great buy. Hope it does and I'll give it to my daughter cause she broke one of the sharks I got her.

I do not like my H2o X5 mop. I feel like it has a very flimsy handle. I feels like it is going to break in half when I use it. Definitely not meant for large jobs. Part of the handle broke off in the first few months of use and when I called about it they wanted to charge me for a processing fee to replace it. I also tried to get replacement mop heads and was told that the only time you can purchase them was at the time of the original sale transaction, you can not purchase them after the fact. I do not recommend this mop to any one. I am going to go out and buy the shark instead.

Harold Melvin said...

what the hell are u people complaing doing to your steam mops. yes the handle is too flimsy but other than that it's a great product. maybe u people should clean a little more often because what u guys are saying about it not cleaning and the pads breaking doesnt make any sense. this mop works exactly as it claims.

I bought the H20 mop 3 months ago and it is absolutely useless..from the first day it leaked all over. I have gotten burned trying to use the hand held attachments. This product is dangerous. I stopped trying to use the hand held attachments and have on occaision tried to use the mop. The mop just blew up, sending steam into my face.
This product is dangerous.
I used to own a Shark but changed to this product because of the attachments...big waste of money. I will be ordering another Shark this evening.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

CAUTION re/ (H20 floor mop) dont be a fool, this is the biggest piece of junk ever sold and produced in the market. Please dont buy this garbage. The Co. that advertises this unit, is misleading every individual, that is looking for an eficient cleanig solution,Well,H20 is not the answer. You;re much better spending your$$$ elsewere.Don't trust Thane false advertise products,or their customer service, they're all up to steal your money the legal way.The h2o mop unit has a very cheap construction body overall,it leaves excessive water behind, and never the less,if your desire is to ruin your nice wood floor, this is the rigth tool for the job. What's also ridiculous is the one year warranty, wich does'nt cover shipping costs for the cheap parts that this has been constructed with.Thane International shouldn' be ripping people with their misleading TV advertising, this is my second bad experience with Thane International advertised Tv products. For me Thane International products are over they should close teyr doors indefinetely.Good luck to those that got ripped-off.My H20 mop is going back to the store were it came from immediately, wich opposes the enclosed instructions enclosed in the box as per Thane International.GOOD-BUY H20 floor mop.

I have had the H2O mop for about 8 months .. it is too heavy, the cord is too short, it doesnt stand up on its own without falling over, it left puddles of water in the grout lines of the ceramic floor, and for the pased month it gives off steam then suddenly stops... it needed a break then would start up again... I dont have time to give it 30 minute breaks... now it wont give off any steam at all... I couldnt return it to the store... said I had to send it to the company.. uh I dont think so.. it would cost a fortune... I wont be buying another one and wouldnt recommend it to anyone... the only good thing about it there was constant steam ( when it did steam) and you didnt have to pump the handle like the Shark... dont waste your cash

Anonymous said...

Had the mop for about 3 year.

Handle is a bit wobbly but other than that all great.

If you clean often you shouldn't need to use force to clean floors.

Anonymous said...

wow, thanks for all these comments. I had no idea that this product was a complete piece of crap. A friend just recently got one and she was raving about it (and giving us a quick demo on her floor), but she just got it. Will wait a few more months and see what she says.

Someone commented about this product. Does it work/is it good? Haan slim

I hate mopping floors and I need something that makes cleaning fairly easy/effective.

Seen this product advertised so often, just got on the internet to purchase one, then I happened upon this site!

Not going to buy one now and would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to post their comments; you've helped to save a £100 of my hard earnt salary.

It seemed like it was too good to be true when I first saw the ad and then saw it so many times I thought it must be good!

Thanks to all.. I hope none of you have bought this from tvteleshopping this product since they are all full of duplicate low quality products...Based out of Laxmi Nagar Delhi have a trend of selling all fake products...Be aware of the this company...

I bought the H2O X5 mop about 3 months ago with the extra pads package from Thane. I love how clean my floors (hardwood and ceramic) look and feel after I use this mop. The other attachments are pretty useless though(too heavy for windows..carpet cleaner attachment doesn't do a thing..ect. I found it heavy and the handle SUPER flimsy and cheap, poor construction. After 3 months of usage (and trying not to push too hard, fearing it would break.. the handle snapped off. It is still under warranty but I am required to pay the 14.99$ +tax shipping on a handle that should not have broken off so easily in the 1st place.. not to mention the handle probably only costs a few cents..and I already paid shipping on the extras I ordered the 1st time.. grr! Very disappointed and although I would recommend the H2O mop (not the x5) to anyone, I would recommend they buy the original version for under 100$ at any Walmart or department store where they will most likely have a much easier time replacing/exchanging the product if need be.

I exchanged my first H2O mop for a new one at Wal-Mart....now this one isn't working either! Makes alot of buzzing noises, but no steam whatsoever. Piece of CRAP!
